The newest generation of crawler dozers is based on hydrostatic technology, and the PTO output is not as common. The hydraulic winch is often the only option in this case, and may be an option for the previous generation of dozers. The H4A winch employs a unique and versatile design that can be powered by a dedicated pump on the dozer, by an implement circuit such as ripper hydraulics or by a PTO output powering a pump located inside the winch to create a hydrostatic winch with higher horsepower. The high line pull extends the range of applications for small dozers to permit support functions in the forestry, land management and energy industries that previously required larger dozers.
