A series of “Plug ‘n Play” hydraulic winches are now available from Allied to fit on any non-winch ready Caterpillar tractors. This completes the “Plug ‘n Play” winch lineup for all Cat tractors --- from D3 through D10.
Allied PTO-driven winches are already “Plug ‘n Play” winches. They do not require winch ready or winch installation arrangement on the tractors. The new series of hydraulic winches expand the “Plug ‘n Play” feature to all other tractors without PTO such as the new D3-4-5K and D6K series tractors. This makes dealer tractor inventory control so much easier.
Matching your tractor inventory exactly to sales has always been a challenge. You may have many tractors in your stock, but sometimes, a customer may want a winch on his tractor. The problem is that you may not have the winch ready package on the tractor to accommodate the winch. Your alternative is to quote the customer another tractor with the winch ready package at factory lead time and hope that he can wait.
That was true until now. Allied has now widened the “Plug ‘n Play” winch series to all Cat tractor models, including the latest “K” series.
Now, Cat dealers can install an Allied hydraulic winch in the field on any non-winch ready “K” series tractor. Dealers have tried it and liked what they saw. They said it was “plug ‘n play” simple.”
Allied offers two choices of winch installations on the “K” series: a Hi-P (High Performance) winch driven by a high flow pump that comes with the winch; or a Rescue winch powered by the tractor ripper circuit. The Hi-P winch delivers fast line speed for high-production work such as logging. The rescue winch, a lower-price option, has slower line speed. Both deliver virtually the same linepull.
The Cat D3K, D4K and D5K take the Allied H4A winch. The Cat D6K takes the Allied H5C winch.
The winch comes with everything required for installation. It’s just a matter of bolting the winch to the tractor and connecting the winch hydraulics to the ripper circuit for Rescue winch; or to the Allied-supplied high flow pump for Hi-P winch—a true “plug ‘n play” solution. Installation typically takes 4 hours for Rescue winch and less than 20 hours for Hi-P winch.
The “Plug ‘n Play” hydraulic winches are logical extensions to Allied’s well-proven SCH (Self-Contained Hydraulics) PTO driven winches. Because the pump, valve and hoses are self-contained inside the winch housing, mounting the SCH winches is as simple as connecting the PTO and mounting the winch to the rear of the tractor. There is no need for any winch-ready or winch installation arrangements.
The SCH winches have been standard offerings for years for all Caterpillar tractors with PTO which include D6N, D6T, D7R, D8T, D9T and D10T. The addition of H4A and H5C hydraulic winches completes the “Plug ‘n Play” winch coverage for the remaining non-PTO Caterpillar tractors of D3-4-5K and D6K.
