Dealer Training Knows No Limits

When it comes to travel in support of its dealer organization, Allied takes a back seat to nobody. Just recently, Territory Manager James Smith and Winch Engineer Eric Predeek were in Jakarta, Indonesia to deliver three days of intensive winch service training to a team of about 20 technicians from Cat dealer P.T. Trakindo. Trakindo is one of the largest Cat dealers in the world. Their customers know and trust the Allied winch as the reliable choice in the rough conditions of the Asian tropics.

A key focus of the training was the W6F winch for Cat 527 track skidder. The Cat assembly plant for the 527 TSK is immediately adjacent to the Trakindo Training and PDI facility in Jakarta. In the more remote areas where skidding loads are the heaviest, Trakindo selects the Allied winch for its reliability and acceptance over other winch choices.

Most of the winch users are in remote locations. The service technicians often do not have the luxury of a well-provisioned shop for doing diagnosis and repair. A key part of the training was instructing the technicians on how to properly diagnose winch problems so that they can quickly decide what can be repaired in the field and what needs to go back to a repair facility.

Trakindo service technicians from six far-flung branches traveled up to 2,000 miles (3,300km) to the Jakarta Training Center for detailed service training on the Allied winch.
