Parts Service Bulletins Provide Important Product UpdatesAllied Systems Company Winch division has recently issued two Parts Service Bulletins, both of which provide very valuable information for you and your customers. The first, Bulletin A99-Z-22, issued January 18, 2001, covers product improvements to the Allied W428-3 winch. The second bulletin, A0-Z-27, released October 27, 2000, details a soft shift kit for the W3C winches mounted on Cat D3C-D5C Hystat tractors.
The key point of Bulletin A99-Z-22 is that Allied has released several significant product improvements to the W428-3 (formerly Lufkin) winch, currently used on Caterpillar 528B skidders. After Allied acquired the Lufkin winch, we identified several items that needed immediate correction. The three improvements covered in this bulletin are ring and pinion gear and pinion bearing, breather guard, and freespool clutch. Kits are available to address each of these three improvements.
Bulletin A0-Z-27 outlines an improvement to older W3C winches that reduces the peak torque in the drive train. This kit will help extend the life of the tractor PTO shaft.
All these kits are available from the Parts Department.
