Stalking The Hidden Serial Number

It never fails--you call Allied's winch service department for help with a winch, and you find out you need the winch serial number. And you already know that the nicely printed serial number plate on the new winch has been scraped off by a tree somewhere and is lost forever. What to do? How do I find that serial number?

Not to worry--we've got you covered. The serial number can be found stamped into the winch frame. Just clean off the winch in the locations shown in the photos, and the serial number will be instantly apparent.

For the dozer winches, the current serial numbers begin with the letter "A" followed by the winch model number, AW3C for example. The complete serial number usually has 14 characters, for example AW3CP2A1234C11. For winches built by Hyster, the serial number begins with the winch model number. For the W400 skidder winches, the serial number begins with "W"

It's always a good idea to have that serial number handy anytime you call with a service question. For most questions we don't need to know, but for those occasional times that it is required, it's a lot more efficient to have it on hand.
