Winch Engineers Hustle to Keep Up With Industry Developments

For those of us in the attachment business, we must always stay on top of developments and new products from the various dozer manufacturers. But the recent months have been especially challenging, given all the recent changes in the heavy equipment industry. To keep up, and to help you keep up, we have announced support for several new dozer models. For each manufacturer we support, take a look at the brief summary.

Case

Case has released a new series of hydrostatic dozers, their "H" series. We have winches available for all H-series models from 550H to 1150H. Allied winches are featured in the H-series marketing brochure.

Caterpillar

We now have available the W5C winch on the Cat 517 track skidder. Winch Engineer Ken Bush traveled to Spokane, Washington to mount the winch at Western States Equipment. The integral logging arch is also made by Allied to the same rigorous standards found in the winch.

Daewoo

The W3C is available for mounting on the DD80L dozer.

Dressta

The significant change for Dressta dozers is the change in name. Winch mountings remain the same at this time.

Fiat-Hitachi

With Fiat joining forces with New Holland, our engineers have been unusually busy staying on top of the new models and new nomenclature. For the moment, there are no changes with the Fiat line-up. Some Fiat models are appearing under the New Holland flag in North America. The same Allied winch models fit on both Fiat and New Holland dozers.

John Deere

John Deere introduced their new "H" series last year. The Allied W3C winch was available at the time of the announcement for the 450H, 550H and 650H. This winch features Self-Contained Hydraulics (SCH), a design innovation that puts the hydraulic pump, valve and all hoses inside the winch housing, affording superior protection and ease of installation.

The Komatsu D61, new this year, sports the Allied W6F winch for heavy pulling requirements.

Komatsu

Komatsu has introduced the D61 dozer. In January, winch engineer Richard Hobbs traveled to the "Great White North" of British Columbia to mount the W6F winch on the D61 at Coneco Equipment in Burnaby, BC. Richard reports that the fit-up went flawlessly.

New Holland

Allied welcomes a new player this year in the field of crawler tractors with winches. New Holland, through their alliance with Fiat, will be offering a complete line of construction equipment. The first dozers from New Holland will be the DC70 and DC80, which take the Allied W3C winch.

Every day brings a new challenge to our engineering team. Under the supervision of Ken Bush, Allied's winch engineers strive to keep up with your needs.
