Lloyd Fowler Retires

Lloyd Fowler, the "grand old man" of the Allied winch, retired in February 2003.

Lloyd started at Hyster in 1966 as a fresh graduate engineer. In his early years he worked on a diverse line of products, from forklifts to compactors. But his greatest successes were with the Hyster winch. Lloyd played a major role in the development of the Self-Contained Hydraulic design, a breakthrough in winch technology that is still in use today. Lloyd joined Allied systems Company when Allied acquired the winch product line from Hyster in 1990.

At Lloyd's retirement party, many former Hyster colleagues came to enjoy the day with him and his Allied co-workers. Lloyd was a vast storehouse of knowledge on older Hyster winches, and will be greatly missed. We wish Lloyd all the best.
