As
varied as forestry practices are throughout the world, it's no surprise that
"off-the-shelf" solutions are sometimes not adequate to meet the
customer requirements. As a result, machine modifications are a fact of life.
Ranger is no exception.
The key point about modifications is that they have the potential to affect the machine reliability and its warranty coverage. To be sure that the modification is advisable and that the warranty stays intact, please give us a call about any modifications you plan.
Many modifications are just small convenience items that are easy to install and have little or no effect on the mechanical operation of the Ranger. For example, some dealers have extended the steps on the Ranger to make it easier to enter the cab. This can probably be done without affecting the warranty.
Some modifications, however, may have an effect on the overall operation of the machine and its mechanical reliability. Changes to the hydraulic system, structural modifications, and increased capacity are just a few key areas that require careful consideration and prior approval from Allied.
If you are proposing modifications for your customers that involve critical components, your best bet is to give Allied a call first. We may know of similar modifications done elsewhere, and how those changes hold up over time. We can also suggest ways to make the modification work even better. However, any significant modifications without the prior approval of Allied may be detrimental to the skidder, and you may run the risk of voiding the warranty.
By working together, we can deliver a quality product to our customers.
